![]() ![]() I tried -2 f-stops compensation in the viewfinder, but that did not change exposure in any way, on any mode dial setting either. So, I tried flash compensation in the menu, dropping it down -2.0 f-stops, but that did nothing. So, there is another indication of communication between body and flash. When I half-depress the button for AF to work, and if the light level is low, the AF lamp in the flash DOES light up and help with autofocus. One neat thing about this unit is that it does have a focus-assist lamp built in. However, the flash just blasts away at full power in every mode I've tried on the mode dial, thus overexposing pictures (unless I manually stop down to f16 or f22!). When I mount it on the camera, the camera DOES recognize in the viewfinder when the flash is charged, so I know that there is some communication with the flash. As I understand, the K100DS will tolerate 8 Volts just fine (but NOT 200 Volts, like my old Vivitar flashes!). I figured that since it said that it would work in PTTL mode, I would be able to use it on my K100DS and it would work automatically.įirst, I checked the trigger pin voltage, and it is only 8 Volts with the flash fully charged, and it fires just fine. Also, the user manual says that it may be use in Pentax Program (P) TTL mode, and Pentax TTL Auto (A) mode. ![]() I just bought a used (like new!) Achiever brand 260AF flash unit, marked as "Dedicated for Pentax XZ and PZ series." The pins on the flash shoe are in the same positions as the mount on the K100D Super. ![]()
